Most tourists who visit the island of Elba, are attracted by the crystal clear sea and beautiful beaches, but our island is not just that! The island of Elba has a mild climate that makes it pleasant to stay all year round. Despite its small size, the island of Elba offers a wide variety of different landscapes: Mediterranean scrub, cliffs, dunes, a mountain of granite, scenic trails and in the area of Capoliveri the only underground mines on the island.

The periods of low season are the ideal time to fully appreciate the beauty of the island and to live a few days away from the confusion and frantic pace of the city.

For lovers of trekking Elba offers many paths, from the simplest, also suitable for families with small children, such as the path that leads from Marina di Campo to the beach of Galenzana, paths suitable for people more trained, such as, for example, the path that reaches the summit of Mount Capanne with its 1019 meters is the highest mountain on the island.

Climb Mount Capanne is an experience to try (if you do not suffer from vertigo!): you can choose to climb on foot, following the path 101, which is the easiest way, or the path 100, suitable for experienced hikers. We recommend that you do not go off the trails, because the vegetation is thick and can mislead the less experienced. You might even see on your way some mouflons, skilled at walking on the steep slopes of the mountain.

If, on the other hand, you would like to climb Mount Capanne without having to work, you can take the cable car, which is located just a few meters from the center of Marciana and in about 20 minutes will take you to the refuge which is 950 meters above sea level and, after a short walk, you will be on the top of the mountain, from where you will enjoy a marvelous view, to say the least.

The reward that you will find at the top of the mountain will leave you speechless: on a clear day you can admire Corsica, the Tuscan coast, the island of Capraia and the island of Pianosa, Giglio and Mount Argentario.

Many of the paths of the island are suitable to be traveled with mountain bikes, or if you prefer with a comfortable E-bike, an electric bicycle perfect for those who are not trained but still want to immerse themselves in nature, on the island you can find several stores that can rent bicycles and equipment.

A route that we recommend for your E-bike tour is the one that reaches the mines of Capoliveri: there are both family-friendly and more technical routes. The road starts from the old town of Capoliveri and from here you can admire the old structures for the processing of iron, with the machines that brought the minerals to the boats.

For lovers of mountain biking there are many paths to follow, on our island are also organized various competitions, the most famous is the Legend Cup of Capoliveri, which attracts many bikers and fans.

Another recommended route for lovers of trekking is the GTE: the great crossing Elba.

It is a route that crosses the entire island in 4 stages, starting from the north-eastern end to the west coast.

The best periods to face it are spring and autumn, as summer may be too hot for this route, in winter there are few hours of light.
