Pomonte

Pomonte is a small village located along the southwest coast of Elba Island.

The “beaches” of the village are two, “Il Calello” and the “Spiaggia del Relitto”. In the “beach” of Calello it is possible to sunbathe on the granite slabs from which ships loaded with wine from Elba once departed to reach the Tuscan coast and France. The “beach of the wreck”, made of stones smoothed by the sea, is so called because in the 70’s a cargo ship sank and ran aground on a rock just 150 meters from the shore. Given its proximity to the beach, it is possible to swim to the wreck equipped with a mask and fins and admire the numerous colonies of fish that have made the wreck their natural habitat. The more experienced divers can also visit the interior of the wreck and admire the engine room, the kitchen and the bridge.

The village is located at the base of the massive Monte Capanne, the highest peak on the island of Elba. From Pomonte you can admire splendid summer sunsets with suggestive colors that will make your vacation unforgettable. Here time seems to slow down, during the hot summer evenings you can experience the old village atmosphere with children playing ball or hide and seek in the granite square in the center of town.
